In the 1980s the Stubbies International quarter finals were on. Free surfers were allowed out the back in the cove. My leash broke and my board and I got swept way down the point into the contest area. I had to retrieve my board and scramble in across the rocks with the small minded commentator abusing the hell out of me for being in the contest area, as if i wanted to be with thousands laughing at me getting smashed. Maybe I was taking the attention away from contestants Shaun Thompson and Dane Kealoha. Yep, I was in the quarter finals with them.

He rips, i guess all those little turns before his bottom turn help him connect to his board and keep speed to find the right placement for top turns. If he had a drawn-out bottom turn like Curren's he would look even more amazing.
